Psalm 27… and Psalm-thing Else with Rabbi Berkowitz (Zoom)
Monday, September 30, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Rabbi Allan Berkowitz returns to Beth David for a special High Holy Day- themed evening on Zoom. In preparation for the High Holy Days, we’ll explore two Psalms prominently featured for the season. Psalm 27 is the most recited seasonal psalm, offered daily from a month before Rosh Hashanah until Simchat Torah. Why? What High Holy Day themes and messages are communicated in this psalm? We’ll ask the question, should Psalm 27 to be the ultimate High Holy Day Psalm?
Psalm-thing Else: When a famous High Holy Day piyut (liturgical poem) meets one of the most powerful single verses in Psalms, you get an earthshaking text that pierces the soul. We’ll discover that a much beloved piyut relies on the Psalms to touch our souls. Please join us for what promises to be a lively and spiritual experience. Rabbi Allan Berkowitz is the author of The Psalms: A Guide for the Heart and Soul, available on Amazon. Preregistration required for Zoom.
