National Tisha B’Av Commemoration

The Conscience of a City (YouTube)

Available from Through Aug 14
This is the English translation of a Dutch short film that surfaces the story of a small town (Enschede) where a minister took it upon himself and the members of his church to save as many local Jews as they could during the Holocaust. The film is slated to be part of a collection at Yad Vashem in the coming years, but it has not been released anywhere as of yet. With our congregant’s help and the permission of the filmmaker, we are able to offer it to your communities. The film will be available to any community who wishes to participate via a YouTube link for those 2 weeks. You must register to view the film. Once registered you will receive a link to the film: Register Here

if you would like to support the film creator in their efforts to get the film dubbed into other languages you may donate here

In addition to the documentary, we have connected with three survivors who were hidden, as well as the niece of the minister, and the granddaughter of a non-Jewish family who hid Jews – all from Enschede. The film director and writer are also part of this amazing group, who will be part of these two Zoom sessions. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join these.
