African Flair Kabbalat Shabbat & potluck dinner

In celebration of the Ethiopian Jewish holiday of SIGD, join us for happy hour followed by an inspiring and joyful Kabbalat Shabbat service highlighting the melodies of Jewish Africa and featuring vocalist Renee Benmeleh (listen here) and a potluck dinner

  • 5:30 – 6:15pm  Happy Hour – Let’s welcome each other and get a bit of schmoozing in first!  We’ll provide light appetizers and some drinks; you’re welcome to BYOB!
  • 6:15 – 7:30pm  African Flair Kabbalat Shabbat – Led by Renee Benmeleh with Judy Holtzman and Iris Bendahan
  • 7:30 – 9:00pm Potluck dinner – We’ll provide some beverages, Ethiopian Dabo bread, and a sampling of Ethiopian dishes.  Bring a dairy/vegetarian dish to share (doesn’t have to have an African flair).

An exhibit with information about Jewish communities of Africa will be on display as well. Please RSVP here
