Beth David Women is a multigenerational group of women who draw strength from each other in our commitment to Jewish ideals. Our mission is to bring women together to support and benefit our Congregation and community, and to enrich our lives through personal and spiritual growth and friendship. We accomplish this mission through social and educational programs, worship, social action and leadership development.
There are no dues for joining Beth David Women. We consider all women at Congregation Beth David to be a part of our organization. Many of our members participate in the National Women’s League and some attend regional and national Women’s League events. Women’s League does charge annual dues, and we collect those dues each year from members who wish to participate. Most of our members voluntarily make a small donation to Beth David Women at the same time.
Beth David Women pays Women’s League dues for new members during their first year.
Something for Everyone
- We offer a full array of programs, events and classes throughout the year. Some of these events are highlighted on this website. Other activities include our monthly movie and discussion group, Jewish cooking classes, and Mah Jongg classes.
- We present each B’nai Mitzvah with a Kiddush Cup.
- We send Torah Fund cards to congregants who experience a life cycle event.
- We provide flowers or other decorations for the bima on the high holidays.
- We hold an annual event to support the Torah Fund Campaign.
We are proud to participate in the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism Torah Fund Campaign. In addition to an annual Torah Fund event, we sell Torah Fund gift cards and pins.
Torah Fund supports the education of Conservative rabbis, cantors, educators and scholars through scholarships and programs at:
- Jewish Theological Seminary (New York)
- Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies (Los Angeles)
- Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (Jerusalem)
- Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano (Buenos Aires)
- Zacharias Frankel College (Germany)
Support for Congregation Beth David and Our Community
Beth David Women holds an annual silent auction with Men’s Club and hamantaschen sale. Proceeds from these events are used in part to support the needs of the Congregation and Religious School, as well as other charitable causes.
Each year Beth David Women joins women’s groups around the world in celebrating the founding of Women’s League by leading a special Shabbat Service. Beth David Women lead the congregation in prayer, chant Torah, and host the Kiddush luncheon following the service.
Beth David Women‘s activities are planned by an active steering committee that meets either in person or via email monthly. We welcome anyone who would like to join our discussions or simply email your ideas our way.
