Welcome High Holy Days Cantor Hazzan Kim Komrad
Hazzan Kim Komrad is a trailblazer in American Jewish life — the first woman ordained as a Conservative Hazzan to serve a pulpit in the Baltimore-Washington area. A member of the first generation of women ordained by the Conservative Movement, she received her Master of Sacred Music and Diploma of Hazzan from The Jewish Theological Seminary in 1994.
Renowned for her powerful, soulful voice, Hazzan Komrad has been featured in concerts across the country, including Rising Stars of the Cantorate, The Twelve Leading Cantors of Our Time, and The Four Most Exciting Women Cantors of Our Decade. Critics have praised her voice as “mystical” (Toledo Blade), “beautiful and passionate” (Chicago Tribune), and “a clear, warm soprano” (Baltimore Sun).
She has performed widely as a soloist, including appearances with the Handel Choir of Baltimore, on television, and for Israel’s Ministry of Tourism. Her recordings include Voice of the Lioness and Love is All Around, and she is featured on several Cantors Assembly CDs.
Honored with the Yehudah Mandel Humanitarian Award for her compassion and community impact, Hazzan Komrad continues to inspire through music, prayer, and service. She lives in Baltimore with her husband, Mark.
