thank you for helping us exceed our goal of $5,000!
Nutritious food is the foundation for a healthy, active life.
Second Harvest’s buying power and use of volunteer workers allows them to deliver two nutritious meals for every dollar donated. For many donors, donations will be tax-deductible and/or qualify for matching donations from their employers.
When the Rabbis speak about Tzedakah, they use phrases such as “your brother.” They do so as a reminder that those in need must be treated as family members rather than as people who are wholly other.
In Judaism there is no such thing as “those people,” for we all are G-d’s children.
We live in an extremely wealthy area, but many can’t meet basic needs such as food, housing and clothing. Seeing one’s children hungry is painful.
LET’S HEED ISAIAH’S CALL. PLEASE make your generous donation to Second Harvest by Kol Nidre/Yom Kippur.
- SHFB can purchase: Infant formula, baby foods, diapers, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss; Canned food: tuna, soups, fruit, beans, vegetables, juices pastas, macaroni, rice, beans, cereals, crackers, chickens, bread etc. Fresh vegetables and fruits.
Together, we can fulfill a mitzvah and make a huge difference in our community. Second Harvest Food Bank provides food to needy people in our community. Most are families with dependent children or seniors on fixed incomes. This service is about more than sustenance. It is about delivering dignity and healthful foods. Food Bank is careful with its resources to help people maintain their health.
Let’s give money so Second Harvest can buy lots of good food at their discount rate
