Tikkun Olam, Repairing The World, and Engaging in Tzedakah, acts of Righteousness, are core Jewish values that have always been a part of life at Congregation Beth David. Throughout its history, Beth David has worked to embrace the idea that all human beings are made betzelem elohim, in God’s image, and that the entire world and all that is in it should be understood as a gift, on loan to us from God. This Jewish world view demands a great responsibility to care for all who are suffering in our world, as well as the world itself, continually striving to bring holiness and wholeness into our midst.

Over the years we have held blood drives, Mitzvah days, and hosted a very successful rotating homeless shelter that has helped many men in our community. Each year on the High Holidays we participate in Project Isaiah, a program designed to feed the hungry in our community through Second Harvest Food Bank. All of our students from preschool through High School, in both formal and informal settings are involved in bringing Tikkun Olam into our world and we are continually looking for new ways to strengthen our engagement with this type of work. We hope that you will join us in this holy pursuit, and look forward to working together to bring dignity, justice, compassion and healing into our lives and into our world.
