Lisa Rauchwerger will present a talk and slide presentation on Jewish Papercutting: The Art of the Visual Midrash. Lisa is a freelance artist specializing in papercuts, paper sculpture, calligraphy, ketubot (Jewish ritual marriage contracts), graphics and illustration. Lisa’s unique papercuts, which she describes as “visual midrashim”, offer contemporary insights into traditional Hebrew texts, infusing them with new, symbolic meaning. Cost: Free to all paid-up Beth David Sisterhood members, all others $10 per person.
