Dear Members of Congregation Beth David:
As you know, we are having three candidates for the position of Assistant
Rabbi visit us during the next two weeks (schedule), after which our Search Committee
will be making its recommendation to the Board. Because of the constraints
of the RA Placement process, we must make our decision on Sunday, March
21st. It turns out, this is also the night of the Jewish Family Service Yellow
Tie Affair, and we want to make sure that our decision process does not
interfere with your support for JFS and their major fundraising event.
In previous communications I had invited the congregation to participate in a
special Board meeting scheduled for Sunday evening. However, in order to
accommodate the JFS event and to facilitate the decision process, I am
asking that congregants instead plan on attending an open meeting of the
Search Committee starting at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 21st at Beth David.
While Board meetings are open for all members to attend, the Board will be
acting on the recommendations of the Search Committee, and will not be
soliciting congregational input at that time. We ask that you provide your
input to the Search Committee directly, so that they may take it into account
before making their recommendations to the Board. This will allow you the
opportunity to have your voices heard and still attend the JFS Yellow Tie
Affair.
We welcome your feedback, and look forward to seeing you at the Search
Committee meeting on Sunday afternoon.
Sincerely,
Ron Ruebusch
President
