Arthur Szyk: Miniature Paintings and Modern Illuminations Exhibit

Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.

The Legion of Honor, 100 34th Ave., San Francisco

Irvin Ungar, curator of the Arthur Szyk Society, will be our docent. The walkthrough will follow Arthur Szyk’s long career from his student days in Poland and France and the launch of his illustration career in 1920s Paris to the creation of his illuminated Haggadah, his impassioned World War II political art, and his postwar Americana.

The tour will start promptly at 11:00 a.m. and will last about one hour. After the tour we will gather in a reserved area of the museum cafeteria and have something to eat or drink, and Irv Ungar will join us to answer questions and discuss the exhibit further.

Cost is $10 per person plus museum admission. (Museum admission – free for museum members; $7 for seniors over 65; $10 for adults)

Reservation required by March 14th. RSVP to Hazak. Please indicate if you are interested in car pooling.
