Latest News from Chevrat Chesed

The mission of Chevrat Chesed is to provide short term assistance to members of our community who have suffered a loss, are ill, or welcome a new baby. For those who are ill, we provide meals, run errands, offer rides and visit those of our members who are ill.  The average term of this service is two weeks.  It is not in our mission to provide long term care. For those members who have suffered a bereavement and have the funeral locally, we provide fruit, cheese and vegetable platters for the after funeral luncheon. We also will provide meals for the shiva week. For new mothers, we provide much needed meals.

Chesed Chevrat has recently undergone a change of leadership. After eight wonderful years, Richard Dorsay and Doris Katz passed the committee chair positions to Madelyn Isaacs and Wendy Glasser. Madelyn and Wendy are looking for ways to grow the volunteer base of Chesed Chevrat as well as to expand the group of wonderful captains who, on a two-week rotation, organize the volunteers.

If you wish to help Chevrat Chesed achieve its mission, please contact Madelyn or Wendy. Also, if you become aware of needs within the congregation, let the office know.
