Special Membership Meeting Monday, May 31

Our Pulpit committee has reached agreement with Rabbi Philip Ohriner on the terms of a contract to be our Assistant Rabbi.  At the Board of Directors meeting last night, the agreement was reviewed and the Board voted to accept the contract as proposed by the Pulpit Committee. In keeping with our bylaws, I am inviting you to a membership meeting to vote on a motion to accept Rabbi Ohriner as our assistant rabbi.

I would like to thank the Pulpit committee consisting of David Hoffman, Joanne Cornbleet, Lee Hirsch, Aileen Menkin, and Hy Ramm for the many hours of effort they have expended to bring this agreement with Rabbi Ohriner to fruition.  I would also once again thank the Search Committee that assisted so ably on the front end of this process.

There will be a second item on the agenda of the meeting.   A motion will be made to amend section 3.1 of our bylaws from: “An Annual Meeting of the Congregation shall be held between November 1st and December 10th of each year at such time and place as may be fixed by resolution of the Board of Directors” to “An Annual Meeting of the Congregation shall be held between November 1st and December 23rd of each year at such time and place as may be fixed by resolution of the Board of Directors”.

The reason for the proposed change is to eliminate the scheduling conflict that has frequently occurred with facility use due to Chanukah programming.  By moving the ending deadline by approximately two weeks, two additional Sundays are opened up in December for the Annual Meeting that can allow us to avoid conflicts.  Please plan to attend this important meeting so we can achieve a quorum to conduct business.
