Congregation Beth David’s Mission includes being a caring community and serving the larger community (tikkun olam – making the world a better place). The following are opportunities that will help us serve God in this way.
Books for Raft: Alisa Drabkin is collecting books for RAFT (Resource Area for Teachers). Please drop your donations in the box in the CBD lobby.
Books for the Jewish Coalition for Literacy: Madeleine Klein is collecting new or gently used book for the JCL. The JCL provides children in the Bay Area with tutors and books. Please donate books for children ages five to nine in her collection box in the CBD lobby.
Volunteers Needed for Habitat for Humanity Home Building in Cupertino
Beth David is one of several faith communities who are participating in the building of four new homes in Cupertino on Cleo Dr., near highway 85 and DeAnza Blvd on Sunday, May 20, 2012, 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Ten volunteer builders are needed as well as five support people to register volunteers, make and serve breakfast and lunch. Donations also needed to purchase building supplies. You must be at least 16 years old to build, no experience necessary.
Volunteer Opportunity for Jews’ Next Dor
We have been invited to fill five of the volunteer slots for the Habitat for Humanity building event listed above. Due to the limited number of slots, you must RSVP for this event.
Sign Up Now to Help Rotating Homeless Shelter Sixteen men will be residing at Beth David from May 25-June 29, 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., as they strive to transition back to stable lives. Our guests will arrive each night, hungry after a long day of work and job hunting. Here is how you can help:
- Sign up (alone or with friends) to provide a hot nourishing dinner
- Be on hand to greet the men and provide Beth David hospitality
- Make a financial donation for groceries and other needs (payable to CBD Social Action Committee)
- Help make welcome kits (socks and toiletries) – a great project for Youth Groups!!
- Donate quarters for laundry- drop off at the office
- Donate new or gently used roomy daypacks
