Listening Meetings

Noten Yad (Extending a Hand)

What is Noten Yad?
Noten Yad is a new program focused on creating positive changes for our neighbors and ourselves that we define! We will listen to the personal concerns and stories of our fellow congregants and turn them into action both within Beth David and in our wider community.

How Does it Work?
At meetings in the homes of fellow Beth David members, we discuss social issues that we believe require community action to improve. For example, you may be concerned about:

• Education
• Immigration
• Health Care
• Elder Care & Supporting Aging Parents
• Affordable Housing
• Community Safety
• Aids for the Disabled
• The Environment

These concerns are prioritized based on the frequency they are mentioned and the priority you place on them.  Then, our coordinating committee will research possible actions that are possible. With the support of a 20 year-old, faith based organization, PACT (People Acting in Community Together), we will take action with other local congregations of many faiths with similar concerns to make beneficial change.

There are substantial benefits for Beth David and for its members:

•     It will strengthen and unify the congregation
•     It will enhance Beth David’s voice in the community

We need your inputs!

If you want to participate even further, you’ll help translate the issues we have heard from our fellow Beth David members into community action and create positive change.
