  •  Barrels have been arranged by Dorothy.  She also arranged for congregants to on-line donations.
  •  Letter needs to be written, that will be stapled to the bags.  Bryan is getting the 500 bags from TJ.
  •  Dorothy will write the letter including money donations.  It will be printed at CBD.

  • CBD does not have to provide large monetary donation to get shelter going.
  • Cathey Edwards and others are working on securing $ needed.  CBD’ers who provide groceries are expected to provide as a donation.   Rabbis may be able to provide $s.
  • Sent out request for volunteers in Sept CBD flyer
  • There are nine facilities (churches and synagogues) at present, who have committed the rotating shelter.  Ronnie was on the Advisory comm.  She coordinated the shelter at CBD for 16+ years.  West Valley wasn’t supportive.  The philosophy will be to take men with greater potential, even if it is just eight men.

CBD FINANCE COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES – 09/06/2011

ATTENDING:  Steve S, chairman; David H; Eric L; Lee H; Roland K, secretary

The finance committee met at the home of David Hoffman.

1. The 08/31/2011 year-to-date statement of financial activity was reviewed.  Total Income reported exceeded expenses by approximately $35,000, after two months of the fiscal year; Religious School tuition and fees income collected were in excess of their current expenses during the two non-school months.  Members’ dues payments appear to be under budget for July and August; this area will continue to be closely monitored by the committee.

2. Lee Hirsch presented the results of his extensive research into all named contributions and funds.  The written documentation, designation of purpose, life expectancy, and responsible party for each fund were reviewed.  Current financial transactions and activity were discussed.  A summary of current special funds status, with recommendations for bringing individual funds into agreement with current financial policy, will be presented to the CBD board for review and approval.

3. The committee discussed the question of total, unsubsidized tuition cost for Religious School students, including the Myuchad program.  It was agreed that a close estimate of this would be twice the current tuition charge, plus an additional amount of $500-700.

4. Steve Schlosser reported that copies of current CBD financial policies, including those existing within Synagogue Bylaws, have been distributed to each finance committee member.  Within the next six months, an extensive review will be completed, with recommendations for updating the policies, to more clearly reflect current Synagogue programs and objectives.

5. The committee discussed the possibility of allocating current Building Fund dues income out of the General Operating fund and toward the Sinking fund.  This source of income could then be directed toward building maintenance and improvements.  It was agreed that this question could be addressed when preparing the 2012/2013 Annual Budget.

Next meeting will be Monday, October 10, 2011 – at home of Roland and Carol King
